Pickleball is a sport that is played with a paddle and a ball. The ball is hit back and forth across a net, and the first player to make a mistake loses the point.
Pickleball is very similar to tennis, but there are some key differences. For example, the court is smaller, and the ball is slower and bouncier. This makes Pickleball a more accessible sport for people of all ages and abilities.
Pickleball’s popularity has been growing rapidly in recent years. This is likely due to the fact that it is a fun and easy sport to learn, and it can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It is played on a court with the same dimensions as a badminton court, but the net is mounted at 36 inches (91.44 cm) high, lower than in tennis and higher than in table tennis. The ball is also smaller and lighter than a tennis ball, but heavier and larger than a ping-pong ball.
How to Play Pickleball
A pickleball game is played to 11 points, with the first player or team to reach this score declared the winner. A point is scored when the ball either: (1) is hit over the net and lands in the opposing court; (2) bounces off of a player’s body or racket and lands in the opposing court; or (3) is trapped by a player on their side of the net and not returned to their opponent. If the ball hits the net but still falls in the correct court, it remains “in play”.
Players must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the net before returning it to their opponent. No player may hit the ball twice in succession (except during serve). Players are allowed up to three steps after hitting the ball before they must return to their original position.
Pickleball vs Tennis
The biggest difference between pickleball and tennis is that pickleball uses a smaller, lighter ball that bounces lower to the ground. This makes pickleball a more accessible sport for people of all ages and abilities. In addition, pickleball courts have different dimensions than tennis courts – they are shorter and wider. This makes for a faster-paced game that is especially popular with younger players.

The number of people playing pickleball has more than doubled since 2010, and there are now over 2 million people playing regularly in the United States alone.
